Designer Mystery BOM Part Two

The battery light is flashing on my keyboard, so I'll make this short and sweet. I have finished all of the blocks for the Fat Quarter Shop 2011 Designer BOM. Hooray! Here are the last six blocks, hurriedly pressed, it was getting hot up in my studio!

I'll be back when I have all of the blocks finished into a top. The setting for this quilt is really fun. . . you'll see. Thanks for reading. . .

Handprints On My Heart

On a beautiful day in May, my oldest daughter Lauren got married to her wonderful fiancée Bryan.

I got to spoil my adorable grandson Julian while they were away on their honeymoon.

He is four years old. We had so much fun!

 Bradley got his hair combed with my comb. Sammy was waiting for his turn.

The best pumpkin muffin ever!

We spent the day in a great little town in Pennsylvania called New Hope.

Lots of history and quaint shops

We rescued a fledgling, he was about to take a ride on a UPS truck.

Saw a turtle sunning on a rock

Lovely garden gates

 Ate lots of goldfish crackers around the three crumb catchers

Built Lego houses and played with cars

Curled our eyebrows. His eyelashes are beautiful, no curling needed.

Helped Nana cook, with a colander hard hat

Went to the "bouncy place" (Bounce U)

Gave Bailey a bath to soothe his allergies

Combed his hair with the dog's comb

Ready for a visit to Great Grandmom and Grandpop's house.

There are cars in that little bag.

Helped plant flowers

Julian phographed the finished product.

Splashed in the tub for days!

And made a special gift for Mommy and Bryan.

Julian picked out fabric, I traced around his hand. I framed it for a lasting memory

of little hands that are wrapped with love around our hearts.

Ridiculously Photogenic Guy

Andy Warhol once said, "Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." With the popularity of the internet and social media today, that quote couldn't be more apropos. That quote came to mind when I saw a story on Good Morning America about the "Ridiculously Photogenic Guy".

An anonymous guy running a 10-K race in Charleston, SC became the latest internet sensation thanks to a photo that was taken of him and posted on the internet with the caption, "Ridiculously Photogenic Guy". The photo went viral and there is now a Facebook page and a Twitter account with a huge following.

The "Ridiculously Photogenic Guy" is Zeddie Watkins Little. He goes by his middle name, Watkins. The photographer is Will King.

Wacky Cakeness

My family celebrated Easter last week. I'm thinking perhaps we were so excited for another holiday, we couldn't wait one more week to celebrate. I always make some yummy goodness to bring along. I decide to pull out an old family recipe, brought over on the Mayflower in 1621.

It was a bumpy ride. The recipe almost went overboard a few times. Phew! Close call!
The name of the cake is Wacky Cake. It is such a yummy, chocolaty recipe and super easy to make. One bowl, dump everything in and mix! I decided to make Wacky cupcakes.

There are no eggs in this recipe. After mixing everything in my super cute, boysenberry colored KitchenAid  mixer, I could lick the beater, and the spatula and the bowl! Well, the bowl got stuck on my face, so I wouldn't recommend licking the bowl!

After mixing everything I poured the batter into my favorite "vintage" Tupperware mixing bowl. This bowl is my go to bowl for making pancakes. This bowl is as old as my youngest child, and he is 22! I guess it is almost close to being vintage. It's seen a lot of pancake breakfasts through the years. This is the best, mess free way to get the batter into the cupcake tins. Believe me, I NEED mess free. . .keep reading, you'll see.

While the cupcakes are baking, I made icing. Up first, sifting the powdered sugar. I own two sifters, but decided using a strainer would do the trick. . . and it did! Easy cleanup too. Poured in some vanilla and milk, now it was time to mix it all together. My mixer has a lock button on the right and an on button on the left. Not thinking, I pushed the on button all the way up, thinking I was locking it.

 Made a bit of a mess!

Good thing Sammy the Wonderdog was nearby to clean up the floor.

The cupcakes came out without any mishaps. HOORAY!

Tinted the icing. . . check out the dingy purple one! Ewwww!

Stuck in a few Easter themed picks, and called it done!

I boxed up a few extras for take home as well.
