A Bit O' Blarney

So I'm back to tell you some more about our yummy day. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, Lynn and I decided to make Irish Soda Bread. I have never made or eaten soda bread, I was intrigued. Even more so, when Lynn told me that before the soda bread went into the oven to bake, we would "release the fairies"  HUH??  What kind of blarney is this??

Mixing all the this when the fairies arrive?

Kneading the dough, a wee bit messy...fairies at work??

Releasing the fairies, they burst out of the dough
leaving little fireworks behind.

Baking, can you smell it?

A Fabulous Yummy Day

Yesterday, I went to my friend Lynn's house to cook and bake. We made stuffed artichokes. The recipe came from Lynne's Dad, Lou. It is a favorite family recipe.

Some nice, fresh artichokes

Bread crumbs, grated cheese, olive oil

Some chopped garlic

We stuffed the artichokes

Cooked them in a pot with some chicken broth

        Had some yummy chocolates while the artichokes were cooking

And the results were delicious!

Creative Friends

Today my very best friend Lynn came over to get my creative rear in gear. While she knitted, I cut fabric, sat and talked. Cut some more fabric, sat and talked even more. Progress was made. My machines will be oiled, bobbins will be threaded and sewing will commence.

Sammy the york curled up in a basket of quilts that need to be quilted. I must keep this basket filled to cushion his old bones.
